ROLES AND DUTIES

• Are servant, caring ministers of the church
• Assist pastor in worship services as needed
• Provide support and open communication with pastors 
• Are shepherds of the church who visit sick, shut-in, or bereaved members
• Collaborate with Financial Committee on finances of the church
• Assist Building and Grounds Committee as needed for the upkeep, repair, and use of the church property
• Build an evangelistic program both locally and through missions 
• Serve as a sounding board for major changes in the church such as projects, policies, etc.
• Make recommendations to the church in matters pertaining to its work in progress
• Support new members
• Offers insight and advice to committees if needed
• Are spiritual leaders who provide spiritual guidance
• Shall appoint and supervise such committees as are necessary for the discharge of their duties

CHARACTERISTICS & MEMBERSHIP

• Are set aside and elected by the church
• Have traits of deacon found in 1st Timothy 3 and Acts 6
• Are prayer warriors
• Are peacemakers who strive for unity
• Identify and take care of spiritual needs of congregation
• Attend church regularly including deacon’s meetings and provide financial support
• Are open minded, good listeners, and communicators – have no hidden agenda
• Have a heart for bringing souls to Christ
• Establish and maintain spiritual fellowship and good relationships with members
• Are moral and ethical always
• Will listen to all persons in the church and try to discern God’s will for the church
